SUN SALUTATION explores the elemental relationship between light, movement, and attention. A concentrated red spiral burns at the center of an expansive yellow field, while thousands of fine particles stream outward along four directions.
The painting seems to move in two ways at once: everything radiates from the center, yet everything also appears drawn back toward it. Circular gestures sweep around this central point, creating a sense of rotation, orbit, and continuous motion.
The title refers to the ancient practice of greeting the sun, but the work is not a literal representation of it. Here, salutation becomes a gesture of recognition – a turning toward the source of light and energy.
From a distance, SUN SALUTATION is immediate and almost elemental: yellow, red, center, expansion. Up close, that simplicity breaks apart into thousands of individual marks, subtle color shifts, and intersecting currents.
There is something both intimate and immense in the work. The central spiral could be read as the Sun, a pulse, an origin, or simply a point from which movement begins.
For the collector, SUN SALUTATION brings an immediate charge to a space without revealing itself all at once. Its intense field of yellow and concentrated red center hold the eye from a distance, while the thousands of individual marks invite a slower encounter up close.
It is a painting that changes with attention – first experienced as light, then as movement, and finally as a field of almost infinite detail.
SUN SALUTATION asks what happens when attention turns toward light: does the light become the center, or does the act of looking create one?
